MMGN writes: Blueprints in The Phantom Pain are collectible and reward items required to develop equipment.
Cassette Tapes have multiple uses. Info Tapes add depth to the story, Music Tapes are collectibles to play during gameplay, while Acquired Tapes are contextual sound effects you play on the iDroid speaker (select a tape, press R2/RT to bring up the Control Panel, then press X/A on the speaker icon). The effect changes from tape to tape.
Here's the full location/unlock guide for blueprints and tapes.
