| GR Interviews: First Successfully Kickstarted Game, High Strangeness, Developer Ben Shostak!
Added: 18.04.2015 23:00 | 7 views | 0 comments
It's been a long road for Ben Shostak, the developer of High Strangeness and wwner and Lead Developer of Barnyard Intelligence Games
Shostak paired with Steve Jenkins to run their original Kickstarter campaign for just $1,500, and only received an extra $59. So it's no surprise that it's taken six years to produce the finished product, compared to the days after Double Fine Adventure, when a game like High Strangeness would likely have garnered tens of thousands for its concept.

PA:
Lots of games endeavour to create an atmosphere reminiscent of pen-and-paper role-playing games, but few manage the feat as handily as Obsidian Entertainments Pillars of Eternity.
The Irvine, California-based developer best known as a capable team to whom other studios turn to churn out entertaining sequels within established RPG franchises (some examples: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Wasteland 2) took to Kickstarter in 2012 to drum up support for an old-school isometric RPG sprung from the minds of its own designers and ended up with the highest funded game project the crowd funding site had seen up until that point. More than 77,000 people pledged in excess of $4 million.

Marcus Estrada writes: "It was around the early 2000s when extreme sports games started cropping up left and right. Not only was there the massively successful Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, but tons of others tried to make their mark. BMX, surfing, and even scooters got in on the action although in the end it seemed that only skateboarding games stuck around for the long haul. BMX fans might find what they've been missing all this time in BMX Ride. This game, which has already been in development for a year, offers a variety of features related to both gameplay and modification."

| Data Analysis of Marchs Kickstarter Video Game Successes
Added: 16.04.2015 1:17 | 9 views | 0 comments
Marcus Estrada writes: "One of the most exciting thing about Kickstarter and crowdfunding in general is seeing how many awesome new projects spring up. Of course, more exciting than that is when said campaigns succeed (sometimes to sums of money far greater than they ever expected! In March there were 35 successful campaigns! Thats higher than Februarys count of 27. With such a large selection of video games we can now look into the data further to answer questions like: How much money was raised during March for games? Was each campaign a great success or did it barely make it in the last few days? If youve already looked at our feature on successful campaigns of March it youll see that there are definitely trends appearing in the crowdfunding scene. Along with collecting this data for later analysis, we are sharing what we know now with everyone to better inform our readers."

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:
Son of Nor is an interesting Indie that originated from Kickstarter and recently found itself in full release after being in Early Access on Steam for some time. Players will find themselves part of a Human Tribe that has been secluded for more than four centuries. After having lived alone and in peace for so long, the tribe members now find themselves once again thrust into conflict by a race that would subjugate or eliminate them. Armed with magical abilities to manipulate anything related to the element of Earth, the player sets out on their adventure.
