Plus, the latest on Adanced Warfare, The Witcher 3, FIFA 15 and much more.
Dead Island 2's a strange case, a zombie game where the focus has switched onto the humans. That goes some way to explaining why our cover image features a couple of said sapiens literally booting their dead colleagues off of the front image. It's one of several clues as to how adoptive developer Yager (them of Spec Ops: The Line) are overhauling Deep Silver's series - the rest of which are included in our massive hands-on with the game.

"While Spec Ops: The Line does now have a co-op mode thanks to 2K getting one sorted for shortly after launch, according to Jörg Friedrich, Design Director at Yager on Dead Island 2, the team actually stripped it out of the original game at a very early stage. At E3 the developers of shocking cult shooter Spec Ops: The Line revealed that they were making a sequel to Techland's wildly successful zombie slaying shooter Dead Island. With Techland branching off into all new territory (a shooter with zombies, this time called Dying Light) Yager Development have stepped in to take Dead Island in an all new lighter direction. At Gamescom Yager let the public get their hands on the game for the first time, revealing a small portion of the game's sunny California setting and letting players go nuts for ten minutes of undead slaying action. Behind the scenes we spoke to Yager's Designer Director Jörg Friedrich and Senior Producer at publisher Deep Silver Carsten Linder in a surprisingly honest interview about making the series their own and what they thought Techland did wrong.

GameInformer: First Hands-On With Dead Island 2's Gory, Gun-Filled Improvements

Added: 15.08.2014 20:13 | 12 views | 0 comments

GameInformer- "Dead Island 2 is still over half a year away, but the team at Yager brought a brief playable demo to Gamescom to show off the improvements to core systems, including combat and crafting. We went through the experience twice, once with the Berserker and once with the Speedster. The two play very differently, with foot speed making a big difference. The Berserker trends toward heavy weapons, with slower, movement and heavier swings. The Speedster is notably faster (as you might expect), preferring bladed weapons and sneaking up behind zombies for an instant backstab kill."

Added: 15.08.2014 19:18 | 8 views | 0 comments

Rich Drummond of Gaming Tech United writes: "Dead Island is a very polarizing series that some absolutely hate, but some gamers absolutely love. Personally I'm in the camp that loves the Dead Island franchise. It's a series that has taken a lot of flack in recent years, but through it all, my love for Techland's, and now Yager Development's, zombie franchise has not wavered? Why you ask? let's take a look!"
