Review: inFamous: Second Son (PS4)

Added: 20.03.2014 10:00 | 1 views | 0 comments

Problem child.

Sometimes, it’s arduous. At almost all times, it’s underwhelming. The only innovation to be found is in its knack for being somehow less than the sum of its parts.

It’s also the best InFamous game.

Bald Man is gone. Instead we have Hat Man, who’s much more fun to be around. He yelps approvingly when you make him do something cool. He’s as much a tourist of Sucker Punch’s superhero Seattle as you are, and he’s loving every second. It’s difficult for such enthusiasm to not be infectious.

It gives you everything the best open-worlders give you,...

News: InFamous: Second Son's day one patch adds 19 new missions, 5 hours of additional gameplay

Added: 20.03.2014 10:00 | 1 views | 0 comments

19 episodic bonus missions included in free InFamous Paper Trail content.

The content forms part of a new 'Paper Trail' storyline, a side-story described by the developer as an "innovative online and in-game story arc" that sees players attempting to discover the full story behind the D.U.P.'s occupation of Seattle through a series of 19 new missions and corresponding "web-based investigations".

Players will be given access to new content each week for six weeks, delivered directly via the game and, Sucker Punch suggests, enjoyyourpower.com. The content is said to have been co-developed by Sucker Punch and ARG company 42 Entertainment, and provides...

News: Delsin Rowe's beanie hat is made up of 7,500 polygons

Added: 20.03.2014 10:00 | 1 views | 0 comments

And other things you didn't know about Infamous: Second Son.

The fun figures were revealed by Sucker Punch in a letter sent to VideoGamer.com ahead of the game's launch, highlighting a variety of facts you might not know about the game.

For example, did you know that Delsin shatters into 11,000 individually textured 'ashbit' particles during a single smoke dash, or that there are 1,024 sound variations for the smoke bolt, meaning it will rarely sound the same way twice?

Each city block recreated in Second Son's Seattle measures 100 meters square, too – the same size, Sucker Punch claims, as an actual Seattle block.

News: 1 in 7 PS4 owners bought a PlayStation Camera

Added: 20.03.2014 7:53 | 1 views | 0 comments

Around 900,000 units in consumer hands, but has been supply constrained, says Sony.

Speaking during a presentation at GDC – attended by GameSpot – Norden told the audience that Sony had underestimated demand for the peripheral, which had led to the camera being "severely supply constrained".

He revealed that around 15 per cent of PS4 owners had picked up a camera, meaning the device has shifted approximately 900,000 units to date based on 6 million PS4 sales.

The PS4 camera is sold in the UK at £59.99, while the Xbox One Kinect is included in the £399 system price.

News: What would it take for Ubisoft to see VR as a viable platform?

Added: 20.03.2014 7:32 | 1 views | 0 comments

Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus need a large install base, says Ubisoft's VP of creative.

"VR would need to sell at least 1 million units to be viable for development," Raynaud said during a GDC roundtable attended by GameSpot.

Oculus will launch an improved development version of its VR headset in July priced $350, but a commercial consumer version is still without a launch date. Similarly, Sony's VR is currently only a prototype and could be years away from release.

Added: 20.03.2014 6:56 | 4 views | 0 comments

Authorisation currently required by Microsoft or Sony.

Responding to a question on Twitter if consoles would be added to the sub, Epic Games VP Mark Rein wrote: "We'd love to. For now you need to be authorized by MS and/or Sony first."

Rein was quick to add: "I need to stress that UE4 already runs amazingly on Xbox One and PS4! Lots of devs are already making UE4 games on those platforms."

Yesterday Epic announced its $19 a month subscription plan for Unreal Engine 4.

News: Driveclub not delayed for Morpheus, won't have VR support

Added: 20.03.2014 6:47 | 1 views | 0 comments

But still no release date for delayed PS4 racer.

"There's a rumour about the reason of the pushback of Driveclub was to make it Morpheus compatible...that's totally untrue," Yoshida told GameSpot, explaining that experiments with the VR tech led to motion sickness.

"It's kind of difficult and sickening," he said, speaking about his time testing Driveclub with Morpheus.

Sony has yet to announce a new release date for Driveclub, which is still officially due for release in 'early 2014'.

Sequel won't be exclusive to Microsoft platforms.

The source added that EA's option to publish Titanfall 2 was based on the sales performance of the recently launched first game, and whilst no official sales data has been released the upturn in Xbox One console sales suggests the mech shooter has been a success.

EA, however, chose not to confirm the rumours. "We do not comment on rumour or speculation," a representative told the site. "Right now all our focus is on supporting all the fans worldwide enjoying Titanfall."

Furthermore, Polygon has been told by its own sources that the sequel will not be tied to Microsoft...
