While Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain doesn't release until next week, several members of the press have had a chance to check out the game early. In fact, Digital Foundry has gone hands-on with both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions and compared the two.
Below—with its cavernous visuals, enveloped in saturated shadows and indigo hues, generously and ominously expanded on a wide screen at its station—stood out at Microsoft's pre-PAX indie showcase without needing to make any sound. A diminutive warrior wielding a sword and shield, wandered about the darkened bowels of the earth, precariously stepping into the unknown with the faint light of a torch. Sometimes he would find patches of soft grass swaying by a ledge or a refreshing spring made by streams trickling along the rocks. Raising a lantern against a circular wall revealed glowing pictographs that reveal the unspoken narrative. Spelunking truly never looked so gorgeous.

Square Enix's upcoming action RPG/tower defense/musou hybrid Dragon Quest Heroes now has its first English trailer. Can someone, probably a UK native, tell me the difference between all the different accents? I think Terry and Jessica sound North American, but the voice clips were so short and there was so much else going on that I can't quite tell. The other accents I can't quite identify because I guess I suck at that.
It comes out in North America on Oct. 13 exclusively for PlayStation 4.

Square Enix Revealing Tokyo Game Show 2015 Lineup
There are video games based on film, and then video games that could be film. The latter is something that has become increasingly common with advancements in technology over the years. In 2015, you can play through a game that offers the same cinematic experience as a great movie, but allows you to interact with the world, and in some cases make impactful decisions.

One side effect of this is that there are some games that you can watch someone else play and be fulfilled. It's no wonder that playthroughs and live streams are gathering more viewership than ever. Below you will find 10 games that you don't necessarily have to play to enjoy.
Warning: More Talky Than Metal Gear, But Way Funnier!
If I had to make a generalization about the -styled gameplay and plot advancement that allowed for this to play out with near constant twists and turns, first for its high school cast and then for their whole world as they discover that a giant catastrophe has destroyed it.
Forza Motorsport 6 might not hit store shelves until September 15th, but Turn 10 Studios has already wrapped up v1.0 development for the product. In other words, the game has gone gold, giving its developer more than two weeks to prepare for launch.
It's now official that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's success isn't just a figment of our imagination. It's been three months since the initial explosion of interest and publishing of positive reviews, and we've just learned that it sold an outstanding six million units in half that time.
It takes a while for the Xenomorph to truly show up in Alien: Isolation, which makes sense. The prolonged delay adds an extra layer of tension, much like the classic 1979 film. When it does makes its grand entrance, the game gets even more difficult. But this is the nightmare mode we're talking about, so difficult doesn't even begin to express the hopelessness of my situation.
Larian Studios' upcoming role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin 2 managed to reach its funding goals in less than 12 hours after launching on Kickstarter.
The initial goal was set at $500,000 and at the time of this posting, you'll see it is now well over $650,000, and, believe it or not, there are still another 33 days left to go!
"Who wouldÄ‚Ë€â„Ëve predicted that a pitch built around adding extra dialog options & origin stories to a complex RPG would be capable of mobilizing so many people so fast? For RPG developers like us it's like a dream come true," the studio explained in an update on its Kickstarter page. "You are allowing us to create deep complex RPG experiences that we love to make and we're so very grateful to all of you!
Activision has released a new trailer for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, showcasing the game's new vibrant and light-hearted visual style. In case you've forgotten, when Robomodo's game was first revealed, it sported a much more gritty and realistic style, one that didn't quite resonate with the general populace.
In today's update in the ever-evolving world of games marketing, we see Square Enix taking an interesting approach to revealing a Tokyo Game Show lineup. Rather than reveal most games but leave a few as secrets (as the company has usually done and as most companies do), it has revealed only a few games, with intentions of building the list gradually.
Like many PlayStation 4 exclusives, Until Dawn is a very story-oriented game. Its satisfaction is derived from the adventure it has to share with players, one which can only be explored alone.
At the start of 2015 many gamers were itching for a deep and compelling RPG to play. Arriving in May, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was the perfect solution to a common gamer problem. It wasn't just regarded as good, it was outstanding, earning the lion's share of attention from gaming discussion for months to follow.
Diablo 3 started out as a game that only half-fulfilled its pursuit to be the next great Diablo. Its cohesive gameplay and polished presentation demonstrated that the series could transition well into the modern gaming climate, but many of its mechanics and systems didn't deliver in a way that was deemed satisfactory by fans. It would take two years of patches and the Reaper of Souls expansion pack to move it to where it needed to be in order to earn a reputation as a title worthy of the Blizzard name. Another year of patches have only made it better.
The folks over at Boss Key Productions have finally lifted the veil on their new game. What was previously codenamed Project Bluestreak is now officially titled LawBreakers.
According to studio boss Cliff Bleszinski on the game's livestream announcement broadcast, the game features two competing sides: law enforcement and criminals known as Breakers. In the game, players will be able to break the laws of gravity in a number of different ways, be it through the use of jetpacks, grappling hooks, or even manipulating the laws of nature by inverting gravity itself. As such, it goes without saying that the game will place an emphasis on verticality.
Many Xbox One owners are currently reporting issues with the Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer beta; namely that they can't access it because the code they received isn't working.
