If you thought we had seen the last of remastered titles for Sony's current-gen console, you're in for a rude awakening, as Sony has revealed that it's "very likely" we'll see more prior-gen classics get a fresh coat of paint for PlayStation 4.
Square Enix's custom-built Luminous Engine, which powers the upcoming Final Fantasy XV, reportedly won't be used in developing Tetsuya Nomura's remake of Final Fantasy VII.
Developer Inti Creates has announced intentions to bring PS4 and Vita game Gal Gun: Double Peace worldwide. All it needs is a publisher.
It's a rail shooter where you go to a high school and shoot the high school girls in the boobs and butt with a heart gun so that they won't get mad at you.
"So tell us about the third-oldest Yakuza game. The one released three years ago, which has been surpassed followed by two other games by now," begins Gio Corsi of SCEA Third Party Production, in his interview with Sega, in so many words.
The interview, which takes questions from Twitter (yes, "what's your inspiration" shows up, because of course it does) and reveals the funny info nugget that most of the stories from within hostess bars come from first or second-hand experience.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater may be the most important entry in the Metal Gear Solid saga, especially in terms of understanding the overarching plot and setting up the characters and relationships that affect the entire story. Its story lays the narrative groundwork for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, helping to explain the conflict between Big Boss (Snake) and Cipher (The Patriots).
Upcoming PS4/Vita shooter Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours got its first trailer recently. After 20 seconds of sweeping intro reminding you that Taito would really, really love to cash in on your nostalgia and call it a day, we're treated to some of the strangest song vocals I've ever heard in a game trailer. Check this out:
Gust and Koei Tecmo's PS3, PS4, and PS Vita RPG Yoru no Nai Kuni won't be arriving in Japanese stores within August as they'd planned. Instead, Sept. 17 is the new target. Get a look at the trailer above and a batch of screenshots plus box art below. When you get to the boxes, the first one is the regular edition and the other is the premium box. Different versions use the same art but different system logo at the top, so I save you and me both some time by just grabbing one of each. Pfft.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? Not this guy. But still!
A little over a week ago, Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy conductor Arnie Roth let the world know that Final Fantasy XII is being brought into HD. And it might be one of my favorite PR head-scratchers of all time, because there are so many different hypothetical scenarios for how and why things could have happened the way they did. We'll never know for sure, because they'd never admit to any case and might be just lying through their teeth if they did. So let's take a look at what might have happened here.
It's been a long three years since Guild Wars 2 launched. During that time it's been supported with regular events as well as a launch in China. ArenaNet is nearly ready to release the next chapter of the game through its first expansion, Heart of Thorns. For this entire weekend those who pre-purchase the game have been granted access to a beta event that has a large portion of the expansion available for play in an effort to test the product prior to its release later this year.
According the IMDb, the 2011 video game and '80s-nostalgia trip Ready Player One was optioned for the big screen, and is currently set to be directed by Stephen Spielberg.
Today the film was given a release date of December 15, 2017. Ernest ClineÄ‚Ë€â„Ës novel takes place in a dystopian future where everything is tied into an all-encompassing VR system named OASIS, where main character Parzival lives much of his life searching for clues to a treasure nobodyÄ‚Ë€â„Ës sure is even real. But once he cracks the first code, the kid from the slums becomes not only a target, but a contender for the final prize: control of the OASIS itself.
Well, they got me. I snagged Journey on the PS4, digitally. I got the physical Collector's Edition thing on the PS3, because I support physical media whenever possible... usually.
But part of the reason I do that is so that if the shit goes down, I can resell my games and get a portion of that dough back. The physical PS3 version set me back $30, and I assume the PS4 version would do the same. But I hopped onto the PSN store and that shit was 1,200 yen (like $10 US). So I figure... wait... if I buy the physical version and resell it, I will have had the game for however long and ultimately be out like $10-$20 depending on certain factors and timing. So if that's going to be the case, then I might as well spend the same amount of money and at least hold some sort of claim (however fickle) to the game.
Konami has released several comparative screenshots for Metal Gear Solid V along with all-important framerate information.
As expected, the PS4 and Xbox One will run at 60fps, though the Xbox One version will be limited to 900p with a "final output 1080p" and the PS4 version will run in native 1080p. The PC version can output a resolution of 3840x2160, so your experience will just depend on your settings.
The last-gen versions, however, will only output in 720p at 30fps. But with the magic of the FOX Engine, it would seem as though the differences will be quite minimal at least in the screenshots, apart from the one shot below that has different colors for Snake's robot arm.

Based of its own sources, website Neowin believes that the install base for Windows 10 is already passed 25 million and "may be as high as 27 million." The adoption rate isn't as ferocious as it was earlier at 1500 installs per second, but that's nothing to scoff at either. Microsoft has yet to confirm these staggering figures.
Mighty No. 9 was officially delayed this week, and fans haven't been happy about the news to say the least. Now one of the game's producers is discussing the delay and how it relates to a failure in communication.
When Games for Windows Live support was removed from Dark Souls last year, I rejoiced. I imagine folks did the same for Dead Rising 2, Resident Evil 5, and other games that ditched Microsoft's PC gaming platform. It may have bruised Microsoft's ego, but the company appears to have learned from its mistakes.
With the release of Windows 10 many PC gamers are wondering what DirectX 12 means for the future of gaming. Up to this point it hasn't been very clear. Anecdotes point toward better performance in many modern games, but there hasn't been much to back up the claims.
World of Warcraft: Legion's reveal was surprising in many ways. Even the most believable rumors were far from the target, one that includes a re-awakening of the spirit of Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. With its exciting Artifact system, fast-paced Demon Hunter class, and setting in The Broken Isles it's an expansion with tremendous potential.
It's no secret that developer 343 Industries is taking the Halo campaign experience in some bold new directions with Halo 5: Guardians. Instead of telling a solo story in which the Master Chief takes on hoards of Elites, Grunts, Brutes, and Prometheans "lone wolf" style, Spartan 117 will always be accompanied by a trio of fellow soldiers: Blue Team.
Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil creator Michel Ancel is designing at least one of Super Mario Maker's 60 pre-made levels that will ship with the game at launch.
