While yes, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is undoubtedly a massive game, it looks like the final product isn't actually the full experience Kojima Productions set out to deliver. There are a number of characters that don't really get proper conclusions by the time the credits roll, and now we know why.
The voice work on Fallout 4 has officially wrapped, and it looks like it was quite an endeavor for the folks at Bethesda, as the studio has confirmed that its upcoming open-world RPG boasts over 111,000 lines of dialog.
The devil you wish you didnÄ‚Ë€â„Ët know.
If it were not for the Wii UÄ‚Ë€â„Ës considerable lack of third-party support, DevilÄ‚Ë€â„Ës Third would effortlessly slip underneath the radars of Wii U owners, never to be heard from again. Sure, it may have been crafted by the once-capable hands of Tomonobu Itagaki, most notable for his acclaimed revival of the series back in 2004, but it feels like the reason why DevilÄ‚Ë€â„Ës Third has been the subject of so much conversation is because itÄ‚Ë€â„Ës one of the only Wii U games that hasnÄ‚Ë€â„Ët been developed by Nintendo that has threatened to achieve a modicum of popularity.
Happy September and welcome back to Console Wars, GameRevolution's fanboy-friendly video series all about pitting our favorite hardware makers against one another. For this month's installment we're going to look at the mascots of each of the Big 3—those being Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, of course—and figure out who's got the most compelling stable of iconic faces.
Remember kids, donÄ‚Ë€â„Ët talk to strangershellip; unless theyÄ‚Ë€â„Ëre handing out robots, then take the damn robot and save the world already.
There are some odd standards when it comes to video game role-playing: ransacking your neighborÄ‚Ë€â„Ës unlocked houses, doing dangerous jobs for people youÄ‚Ë€â„Ëve never met in towns youÄ‚Ë€â„Ëve never been to, even punching hippies and dogs (thanks for that, Ness). But "entry-level" RPGs usually include one more surprising one, and that is the "child/children being given a life-threatening task in saving the world/defeating a massive evil organization/mafia/syndicate" motif. I suppose in the pixelated ether, thereÄ‚Ë€â„Ës just too many people over the age of 14 that donÄ‚Ë€â„Ët have what it takes to take on the rest of the world. They grew out of it, maybe?
I've been playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain just like the rest of the video game world, and to no one's surprise I've been having a blast with the game. As a huge Metal Gear Solid fan I love the series' penchant for insane plot threads, larger-than-life characters, and David Hayter as Snake. In the first handful of hours of The Phantom Pain there's less of an emphasis on story, toned down characters, and Kiefer Sutherland as Snake. It's a stark shift for the series, and yet it hasn't hindered my enjoyment of The Phantom Pain. Based on fan feedback so far, I'm not alone.
Earlier this week Naughty Dog announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will include single-player DLC, a first for the series. Now the company is explaining the reasoning behind the decision.
The breakup between Konami and famed Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima is one that was not only controversial, but unfortunate. With it, the Kojima era of Metal Gear has come to a close. Given the occasion, one would think that Konami would go out of its way to promote the wizardry that Kojima and the staff at Kojima Productions conjured to make one of the highest rated games of all-time. Negative. Instead, it made a strong effort to remove any labeling referencing either party, from the game box to marketing material.
The highest-rated MMORPG of 2014 is only weeks from making the transition to free-to-play. That game is WildStar, and it's quickly becoming one of the most widely discussed games in the MMORPG scene.
The SNES was my first video game console, so I missed out on plenty of NES games in my youth. That means I spent a lot of time with Mega Man X but didn't have the pleasure of experiencing the more famous entries in the series like Mega Man 2. Mega Man Legacy Collection allows me to fix that, and now I get to die multiple times just like other players did in the late 80s.
Our friends over at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that NetherRealm Studios will be releasing new downloadable content for Mortal Kombat X this coming year. That's right, come 2016, fighting game fans will have new characters to play with, along with new skins and a new environment.

The DLC will release at some point in the early half of 2016. Sadly, Warner Bros. didn't specify who the new characters are or what the new skins might be. Instead, we've been graced with a foggy teaser image, aptly titled "Who's Next?"
In typical Kojima fashion, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain sports a number of hidden Easter eggs for fans of the franchise to discover. Just the other day, a special cutscene involving a key character from Ground Zeroes surfaced, totally flipping the script on everything players thought they knew about the events of the prologue.
Or should I just say: Are you playing Metal Gear Solid V right now?
September is overflowing with the bounty of games, starting off with both Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid V which released just yesterday. Our reviewers are diligently getting through both games as we speak. Strangely enough, we've already got reviews up for both Super Mario Maker and Tearaway Unfolded which release within two weeks. Jonathan is zipping through Forza Motorsport 5 too.
Bungie is getting ready to release the biggest Destiny expansion yet with The Taken King. It introduces a ton of new content, such as additional story missions, strikes, maps, and plenty of other goodies. There will also be a new raid, but it won't come out on launch day.
It's completely understandable if you shudder at the thought of Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below. Maybe it's the exhaustingly long title (it could be abbreviated DQHTWTTatBB and it will still be too long), but maybe it's the thought of Omega Force, the developer known for all those Dynasty Warriors titles, just touching Square Enix's sacred Dragon Quest series that makes you recoil in fear.
Indie games had a large presence at PAX Prime this year, but there were plenty of AAA titles as well. Big-name releases like Battleborn, The Division, and Star Wars Battlefront were available at the convention with hands-on demos, but one AAA game stood out among the rest. Ubisoft's For Honor featured one of the more memorable demos of PAX Prime, and it was the kind of experience that I wasn't expecting when I went to the event. In fact, I wasn't expecting to be surprised by any AAA games.
Have you gotten far enough into Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to unlock Mother Base and complete Side Op 51? If so, head to the Medical Strut immediately. A mind-blowing cutscene awaits you.
