[Update] Microsoft has launched a second live-action trailer for Halo 5: Guardians, this time from the perspective of Master Chief rather than Agent Locke. Give it a look above.
Microsoft and 343 Industries have just announced the release date for their upcoming Xbox One exclusive Halo 5: Guardians. The highly anticipated first-person shooter will launch on October 27.
My purchase decision seems as good a place as any. You know me as a guy usually playing and writing about RPGs. Most of them are Japanese. Many of them are turn-based. Anime style and poppy music are not uncommon themes in the games I gush about. Remember? Me? That guy? Okay.
In comparison to modern gaming devices, the Game Boy may have been a hefty plastic brick, but it was a plastic brick that changed the face of gaming on-the-go!
Let's take a look back at the device that kicked off hand-held gaming.
I don't think there's ever a bad time for Final Fantasy VII. My acquisition of the Final Fantasy XV demo required me to actually connect my video game shit to the internet, which led me down this path of realizations:
Oh, hey, I have a bunch of funds in my PSN wallet because there's never any reason to spend them.
Oh, hey, Final Fantasy VII exists.
Oh, hey, I still have my PSOne CD version but want to play this on my Vita so, fuck it, there's never a bad time.
Oh, hey, I'm probably part of the problem because they won't remake this game so long as the old version still goes strong.
Oh, hey, Midgar might be one of the best opening sections of any RPG ever.
Oh, hey, two hours have gone by.
Oh.
Hey.
What are you playing?
Simply put, Pillars of Eternity can become maddening if players aren't careful. Unlike most modern RPGs, this isometric game requires a large investment of time and strategy to not only progress, but also to have a good time doing so. Granted, the game design attempts to steer players in the right direction, but it won't hold their hand and offer the ability to back out of every possible bad decision.
It's not easy to be an indie dev these days. Think about it: Everyone's into indies now. Gone are the days when only programming nerds and well-paid triple-A studios make games. Competition is growing in the indie space like never before, as gamers are realizing not every experience needs flashy graphics. Sometimes all you need are a few colorful quadrilaterals and a powerful story.

The Souls series and Bloodborne have been developer From Software's big claims to fame, but the company has even more experience with tough-as-nails RPGs. Fans can get a history lesson next week with the PSN release of Shadow Tower.
Sony has recognized, from reviewers and reports from Reddit and GameFAQs, a serious progression bug in Bloodborne involving the missing Lunarium Key, a key item in Byrgenwerth that you will need to face a particular boss in the area.
The bug occurs if the user initiates online multiplayer either through co-op or PvP while in the Forbidden Woods area leading up to Byrgenwerth. So Sony recommends that you don't use any Resonant Bell in this area or the Lunarium Key might go AWOL. (Luckily, I didn't encounter this bug in my review.)
Beginning today, the Fast & Furious expansion for Forza Horizon 2 will be free until April 10. As a standalone experience, you won't even need the base game of Forza Horizon 2 to play it. So catch it fast before you have to pay $9.99.
Final Fantasy XV is taking Square's iconic Japanese role-playing series in some bold new directions. As such, the studio wants feedback from the community on what they think of the game's recently released demo, titled Episode Duscae.
The next adventure-centric add-on for Blizzard's online card-battle game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is coming next week.
It's called "Blackrock Mountain" and features a number of tantalizing additions, including a completely new adventure made up of five wings, with a new wing opening each week. Each will contain a series of boss battles, and, of course, new cards to collect.
The "fine" folks over at Double Fine Productions have made their Broken Age developer diary video series available online completely free of charge.
Up until now, the series was only available to those who funded the game on Kickstarter. However, with the impending release of the adventure game's second act, the studio decided to share its documentary with the rest of the gaming world.

This gallery is going to be independently AAA-lluring. Or at least indies should be respected like triple-A games. Check out nine of the awesome indie games I saw at PAX East 2015!
