UK Chart: Minecraft blocks Pikmin 3 from No. 1

Nintendo's Pikmin 3 debuts in second place in the UK charts, behind a resurgent Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.

Nintendo's GameCube predecessor, Pikmin 2, debuted at 32 in the UK chart back in 2004.
Another new release on Wii U, the disc-based edition of New Super Luigi U, debuted in the chart at 13. The game had previously been made available digitally on the Wii U eShop.
slips to third, ending its unbroken six-week run at the top of the charts.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros are in fourth and fifth, with FIFA 13 in sixth.
Far Cry 3 is seventh, Skyrim eighth, and Tomb Raider ninth. LEGO Batman 2 rounds out the top ten.

Nintendo fails in its bid to claim its first Wii U number 1.
Pikmin 3 is the highest placed Wii U title of the 43 games released for the platform thus far. The game did perform considerably better than the GameCube's Pikmin 2, however, which struggled into the chart at No.32 back in 2004.
Nintendo also released New Super Luigi U, which entered the chart at No.13.
The Last of Us falls to No.3 after spending six weeks at the top.
Elsewhere Dynasty Warriors 8 drops from No.5 to No.18 – expected given its niche audience – and The Smurfs 2 recorded a 213 per cent sales increase which sees its enter the Top 40 at...
