Feature: Old Game Plus: International Superstar Soccer and the beauty of complete nonsense

Added: 06.07.2014 7:07 | 21 views | 0 comments

Brett looks back at the precursor to PES, and its now-lost combination of authenticity and nonsense.

The series offered some truly great moments, borne out of the most bizarre circumstances possible - given both technical limitations and the Konami of the time, anything could go. Players could slide 15 feet on a dry day to snatch possession from a player who rolls over three times following the collision without moving a yard. All of this narrated by a man who could give any South American commentator a run for their money for best “GOOOOAAALLL!”.

As a child, Paraguay was my team of choice whenever England wasn’t available. Of course, many of the player names were...

It's not who we are underneath, but what we do, that defines us...

Seemingly pitched as 'A Legend Of Zelda for a Sega console', Beyond Oasis is actually a pretty decent RPG that still manages to be half-decent today.

It does this, mainly, by taking all the usual nonsense RPGs spouted out in the mid-90s and adding in its own spin on it. Admittedly the Zelda influence helps no end, but that's certainly no bad thing - such inspirations aren't enough to make it feel like a copycat.

I've decided to try and finish it before summer has left us. Good luck with that…

Feature: Is the original Gears Of War cast about to reunite on Xbox One?

Added: 04.07.2014 12:00 | 17 views | 0 comments

Augustus 'Cole Train' Cole seems to be confirmed for Black Tusk's Gears of War. Is this a sign that the rest of the crew is on the way back too?

If this Tweet by Lester Speight is to be taken literally, it would seem the 'Cole Train' is returning to Gears of War. Still shrouded in secrecy thanks to Microsoft and Black Tusk's decision to keep things under lock and key for the time being, this could be taken as our first glimpse at the direction things are heading in.

In many ways, it's an unexpected move as well.

Following Gears of War 3, and the end of Marcus Fenix's storyline, it wouldn't have been too far of a stretch to assume that further entries would introduce a new cast of characters to proceedings....

Preview : PES 2015 (PS4)

Added: 04.07.2014 10:34 | 19 views | 0 comments

Thankfully not. Steve went hands-on with a new build of PES 2015, and found a game nearly back to its best.

"Getting back to PES" is how it was described by European brand manager Adam Bhatti, and on PS4 at least (no sign of the Xbone version, of course) that has been achieved. The series has always been famed for its quickness, in terms of both general game speed and the animation routines for players, and last year's version lost that, going to FIFA levels of 'realism' (cough) that made it difficult to play by instinct. Instead, overly-elaborate animations made it near impossible to play a fluid game, slowing everything to a crawl. Not so here.

Players get into and out of their...

News: Oculus Rift withdrawn from sale in China because of 'extreme reselling'

Added: 04.07.2014 9:57 | 22 views | 0 comments

Company unhappy at those attempting to 'flip the headset to make a profit'.

An Oculus representative shared the news on Reddit.

"Yes, it is a bummer that we've had to suspend sales in China due to extreme reseller purchases," explained the rep.

"We need to make sure that we are doing what we can to make sure that resellers that are looking to flip our product for a profit are not taking stock away from legitimate developer purchases globally.

"Our product, in its current form, is a developer kit, meant for developers that develop VR content."

Those in China who really want a Rift have been told to wait for the consumer...

Feature: 10 Demos We'd Have Paid Money For

Added: 04.07.2014 7:56 | 27 views | 0 comments

Pay for a demo!? Pah! That would never happen. And if it did, we'd definitely do a little checking before running a story on it... But some demos kick all the ass, and here's 10 we'd happily pay for.

All Metal Gear Solid demos have been amazing. A great amount of content, solid gameplay and enough replayability to tide fans over until each launch. Memories of time spent in the demos can be just as strong in the games.

Say what you want about Kojima, he knows how to create a vertical slice.

News: 'Huge proportion' of PS4 owners haven't played The Last of Us, says Sony

Added: 04.07.2014 7:00 | 20 views | 0 comments

"It would be almost unfair for all our new fans to never play a game like this."

"The Last of Us is considered one of the most significant titles of the last console generation, winning countless awards," SCEE product manager Josh Walker told MCV, explaining one of the reasons why Sony chose to port the PS3 blockbuster to next-gen. "It would be almost unfair for all our new fans to never play a game like this.

"We've looked at PSN data and can see a huge proportion of PS4 players haven't experienced The Last of Us yet," he continued. "This is quite indicative of the shift in the market and the many players who have migrated from competitive platforms that...

News: Crytek UK staff 'no longer going to work' over alleged pay dispute

Added: 04.07.2014 5:46 | 27 views | 0 comments

Future of Homefront: The Revolution unclear as around 100 employees refuse to work, report claims.

The site's sources claim that around 100 people have refused to turn up to work amidst ongoing problems at the studio, which has allegedly seen Crytek failing to pay staff on time and in full. Crytek UK is currently developing 2015's open world shooter Homefront: The Revolution to be published by Deep Silver.

According to sources who have spoken to Kotaku, "Crytek's UK staff have still not been paid the full amounts they are owed, and this week, according to two sources, the staff at Crytek's UK office handed in formal grievance letters and went home."

While Crytek has...

News: Nintendo's GM of marketing worried about keeping up with changes

Added: 04.07.2014 5:08 | 27 views | 0 comments

It's now more difficult than ever for Nintendo's products to rank high in consumer's wish lists.

Speaking during Nintendo's 74th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders Q&A, Yamato expressed concern that even with exciting new games such as The Legend of Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Devil's Third coming to Wii U marketing will be the difference between success and failure.

"If we fail to solidly promote them in the market, the games will not sell well," he explained. "So, I would like to talk about our mindset on Nintendo's sales.

"Over these past few years, the number of choices that consumers have for how to spend their leisure time has significantly...

News: Cliff Bleszinski's new studio appears to be Boss Key Productions

Added: 04.07.2014 4:47 | 21 views | 0 comments

Official reveal due Tuesday.

While the new studio has yet to be formally announced by Bleszinski himself, the studio's alleged website links to his Twitter account and features the same logo worn on a T-shirt by the designer earlier in the week.

All Games Beta also appears to have uncovered information about the company's registration, which has allegedly been active under Bleszinski's name since April 30.

Boss Key's first game seems to be called 'Project Bluestreak', although whether it's linked to earlier concept art remains unknown.

Bleszinski is expected to formally announce Boss...
