In Japan, Sony is beta testing PS4 firmware 3.0. I'm not in the beta myself, but Pocket News has the goods.

And the slow crawl revealing the roster for the next WWE title begins anew.
Touting the largest roster in the history of WWE games, WWE 2K16 has revealed 18 wrestlers and divas, featuring the cover wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kalisto whose entrance is shown above in the trailer.
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture has taken quite a beating from reviewers for having a slow movement speed. It's undoubtedly affected its Metacritic rating as several review sites have cited it the poor pacing as a detractor to the experience. What many of these reviewers didn't know is that you can run in the game, it just isn't obvious.
FMV Is Back

One of my favorite games of 2015 is Her Story, a murder mystery comprised entirely of full motion video (FMV) segments with a single actress. It's the kind of experience one would except from a game 20 years ago, but the FMV format has seen a resurgence in recent years. The novelty of putting real actors in front of the camera still exists today, we just needed some time away from it in order for it to make a comeback.
Indie developer GRIN, not to be confused with developer Grin of the 2009 reboot of Bionic Commando, has announced in an official post entitled "Game Over" that the company has filed for bankruptcy.
Every month Sony provides a batch of free games for PlayStation Plus users, and those users download them. It's a simple concept, but Sony plans to give players more of a choice starting this week with the introduction of Vote to Play.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night (review here) will be coming to North America on Sept. 29. Above and below, you can check out the English voices for three of the lead characters, Chie (above), Yosuke (first trailer below), and Kanji (bottom).
And here's a truckload of screenshots from the Japanese version.

For most game developers, creating games is all about exploring creativity to deliver unique experiences in the virtual world. Unfortunately, to some developers the entire focus is on making a quick buck.
Koei Tecmo Europe recently tweeted, and its North American branch chimed in, that the company isn't sure about bringing Yoru no Nai Kuni overseas. On the surface, this looks harmless, or perhaps even like good business. They are, after all, asking their customers if something appeals to them. There are some warning signs about this, however.
Growing up in the 90s was a real treat. I'll never forget coming home from school and watching episodes of PokeĂłmon each and every day. Then, on Saturday mornings... it was time for Digimon! It was a special time, filled with wonderful anime/video game crossovers that 10 year-old Alex simply adored.
That tweet right there is Her Story creator Same Barlow saying... well, saying exactly what it says. If you can read this, you can read that, and there's no need to say things twice.
The price of PlayStation Plus for gamers in both the UK and Europe will be getting an increase, Sony has announced. This price hike applies specifically to one-month and three-month subscriptions, which currently run folks pound;5.49 and pound;11.99, respectively.
The International, the annual Dota 2 tournament, took place this past weekend. Evil Geniuses, a North American team, won the event and took home the $6.6 million prize. I ended up watching most of the finals, and I came away with a new-found appreciation for Dota 2.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a profound remaster for several reasons, one of which is the significance of the original Gears of War. As with other historically important games, it affected future game design. In 2006 it demonstrated that third-person shooters could have great gameplay using cohesive gunplay and intuitive cover mechanics.
It seems like every other day a Dark Souls veteran beats the game in some ridiculous way, whether it's upside down, with no HUD, or using only a bow. But I think I've found the most impressive playthrough, and it doesn't even include a controller.
Microsoft and developer Crystal Dynamics revealed a new demo for Rise of the Tomb Raider at Gamescom last week. Folks who attended the convention in Germany got to see it, but now the entire public can watch a full playthrough of the demo.
One of the driving forces of The Sims' popularity over the years is its support of mods. For 15 years players have been making their own content for The Sims, allowing them to create and share nearly anything they can think of. In many cases this has come in the form of custom characters derived from real-world people. Maxis has supplemented this with celebrity additions to its games, making The Sims a destination perfect for those who want to interact with their favorite actors, singers, and more.
Eight days remain for the Humble Bandai Namco Bundle, which scrapes together seven titles that you can purchase for just $10. A portion of your proceeds, as you see fit, will go to Save the Children which supports children's rights and provides relief in developing controls.
Vanillaware made some of the prettiest games on PS2 with Odin Sphere and GrimGrimoire, and continued the trend on PS3 with Dragon's Crown. In 2016, we get to see what it would look like if Vanillaware made a PS4 game. Here are screenshots of Odin Sphere Leifthrasir:

The game will also be coming to PS3 and Vita, but judging by past games that have shared that same system lineup, it's safe to say the PS4 version will look the best, and likely handle the best as well. I presume it will get rid of those horrible frame rate drops that plagued the PS2 version, but we'll have to wait and see.
As if the reputation for the movie Pixels couldn't get any worse, an anti-piracy group called Entura International on behalf of Columbia Pictures has taken down anything and everything with the word "Pixels" on Vimeo.
