Fix will address game crashing glitches and server errors.
Sometimes, not all the time, I hate always being right. I knew GTA Online would be trouble - for its first few days, at least. Have you managed to wriggle your way past the many glitches currently plaguing multiplayer to get a few rounds in online? If not, don't despair - Rockstar could have the solution out the door by end of play today - just in time for the weekend.
Inquisition team wants to "see how people respond" to next wave of Kinect titles.
I don't know about you, but if an overfed flying, fire-breathing iguana dropped through my roof, the first thing I'd do is yell something at it. Something along the lines of: "That mantelpiece wasn't insured, Mr Dinosaur - accordingly, I now require you to batten upon the anguish that is a heavily upgraded greatsword." Please add in exclamation marks as you see fit.
But for how long?.
The first episode of Telltale's The Walking Dead Xbox Live Arcade series is once again free to download - and this time, the offer doesn't appear to be limited to Xbox Gold subscribers. Budget-conscious zombie exterminators, rejoice!
"I would not count on it being on the PS4," says community developer, but "you never know".
We've seen and heard little of Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive since the Xbox One exclusive's announcement at E3, which is rather disappointing for me personally - a world in which little is said about a game that looks like Crackdown's spiritual successor isn't a world I want to inhabit. Accordingly, I've just been on a jaunt round the developer's forum, and there are some asides from community web developer Tim Salvitti that you may be interested in.
Saints Row developer takes aim at "ridiculously huge budgets".
The games industry's obsession with $100 million games that retail for $60 is seriously harming it, according to Saints Row 4's senior producer Jim Boone - one of the survivors of this console generation's most infamous bankruptcy, the collapse of THQ.
Get your fill of superheroic adaptations.
Activision's got a sizeable Xbox Live Marketplace sale on the boil, skimming up to 50 per cent off a bevy of Games on Demand, Arcade titles and DLC. Can one among their number tempt a few coins from your jealously defended hoard? Here's the full list, care of TrueAchievements.
"My feeling is that I would love to do it," says Gustavsson.
Weary of the relentlessly uptight and heroic numbered Battlefields? Thirsty for a more laidback age, when there was time to stop mid-mission and waffle about the meaning of life? Dread not - a third Battlefield: Bad Company endeavour will definitely happen, DICE's creative director Lars Gustavsson has promised.
Good lord, it's stripped the very flesh from his bones.
In a shocking twist, Microsoft has revealed that Xbox One's new Kinect sensor is, in fact, a terrifying sci-fi apparatus designed to strip away your skin and muscle, reducing you to a horrid bone puppet, which is doubtless key to some global plot to - oh, hang on, that's just the skeleton tracker, isn't it. Panic over.
Rockstar switches off microtransactions till "things are running smoothly".
We now enter the third day of GTA Online, with little apparent let-up on the technical difficulties front. Rockstar has disabled the game's microtransaction system while it tinkers around with the netcode - if you want cash, you'll need to crank it out the old-fashioned, in-game way for the moment. Assuming you can get the game running at all.
Game will form part of cross-platform Deus Ex: Universe project.
I did ask for this! Eidos Montreal has announced a new, currently untitled Deus Ex game for PS4, PC and Xbox One, which will form part of a Deus Ex: Universe - "an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games".
Top resolution doesn't always mean "highest quality visuals", explains hardware designer.
There was a brief period of uproar the other week when Crytek revealed that Ryse: Son of Rome wouldn't run in native 1080p resolution on Xbox One, following a contradictory claim by Aaron Greenberg, chief of staff for the devices and studios group.
"Bickering" about Xbox One vs PS4 doesn't get us anywhere.
GoldenEye designer, former Nintendo of America man and Microsoft Studios partner creative director Ken Lobb has chipped in on the next generation console debate, commenting to Edge that there will be good games on all the platforms, and that contrasting the specs and price points is thus rather unconstructive.
"We have a character who's just doing this because he's run up a really big bar tab.".
An online-centric prequel in which four adventurers can choose to fight against a player-controlled villain, Fable Legends is obviously a bit of a departure for the franchise. There's still plenty of DNA in common with earlier Fable games, however - for one thing, there will be character-defining moral choices of a sort despite the presence of partly fixed classes.
New trailer explores the moon's dark side.
Bungie's always-online sci-fi opus Destiny is to get a multiplayer beta in "early 2014" on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, the developer has announced by way of a new trailer, which takes us to the Moon.
"We thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this.".
I managed to play a few rounds of Last Man Standing in GTA Online last night - while eating a sandwich made of flying pigmeat, which I obtained from a charming little shop in the continent of Atlantis. No really, I did. Rockstar is working "round the clock" to smooth out GTA 5 multiplayer's bug-ridden launch, and has updated its list of high priority glitches. Do you have any to add at this point?
Silver subscribers get online multiplayer 4th-6th October.
Xbox Live users who don't have Gold subscriptions will be able to access Gold-exclusive features for free this weekend, 4th-6th October, Microsoft has announced. That coincides nicely with the launch of GTA Online, which is currently a dank and deadly moshpit of techno-fear and loathing - hopefully, Rockstar will have ironed out the launch bugs by Friday night, though I suppose the sudden arrival of a few million non-Gold users could upset the netcode even further.
"Know that we are working hard to smooth them out.".
So GTA Online is finally a thing that can be experienced by ordinary mortals - and in the most shocking news imaginable, a fair few of those ordinary mortals are reporting technical problems. Don't say Rockstar didn't warn you all, boys and girls.
Premium, MOH owners and pre-orders get access first.
Adding yet more weight to servers struggling to process GTA Online's launch, Battlefield 4's closed multiplayer beta is now available to download from Xbox Live. The beta is only open to those who've preordered the game, Battlefield 3 Premium subscribers and owners of the Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition Online Pass - everybody else gets access on 4th October.
Also, Xbox One's day one download will take 15-20 minutes.
Xbox One's cloud support continues to swirl mysteriously. Who can say what wonderment it might enable? Who can say what it actually amounts to, beyond the capacity to monitor malevolent boulders from outer space? Microsoft's chief platform architect Marc Whitten has said a little - just a little - more to IGN on the subject, but the practical payouts remain unclear.
Capybara's turn-based puzzle-strategy affair gets rid of its price tag.
Capybara's crazy licensed strategy role-playing spin-off thing Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes HD is now free to download for Xbox Gold subscribers. It weighs in at 1.44 GB, and is a mixture of match-3, fantasy troop classes and lovely top-down graffix.
