New cars, plane and guns for residents of Los Santos.
Thought you were done with Grand Theft Auto 5? Think again. When it comes to post-release content, Rockstar means business - and that, of course, is a cunning allusion to the title of the game's next update, a business-themed assemblage of guns and vehicles that's sure to do the business wherever there is business to be done. Business. BUSINESS.
First games in certification now.
Microsoft has added almost 70 developers to the list of successful ID@Xbox applicants, which now spans over 200 developers in total. Stand outs include Playdead, developer of Limbo, Ska Studios, developer of Charlie Murder and The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, and The Behemoth, creator of Castle Crashers and Battleblock Theater.
"All those Xbox 360s out there didn't turn into pumpkins on November 22nd.".
Just how long will Microsoft be able to sustain the Xbox 360? The firm has claimed that it'll last till 2016, with over 100 new games on the way as of September last year, but Activision has cast doubt on the idea, revealing that it sold fewer last gen games than expected during its fiscal Q4 2013.
Free multiplayer trial weekend to start 7th March.
Via a Pastebin document it was alerted to, IGN reports that Call of Duty: Ghosts will host a free trial on the weekend of Friday 7th March, which will offer access to multiplayer modes Team Deathmatch and Domination on three maps - Strike Zone, Warhawk, and Prison Break - and the game's surprisingly addictive Extinction mode. Around the same time, the full digital game will be available for purchase at a discounted price, the document also alleges.
More to come at E3, presumably.
Xbox One's 2014 exclusives list doesn't begin and end with Titanfall, Microsoft Studios corporate vice-president Phil Spencer has assured followers on Twitter - there are Other Things on the way, lurking in the periphery of our vision like... Hmm, what's the appropriate reference point? Something from Microsoft's back catalogue, I guess. OK: like a cloaked Elite waiting to pounce.
Shuts down on February 28, Activision to offer services through specific app.
Call of Duty Elite will close down this Friday, February 28 at 10:00 a.m. (PST), and Activision has no plans to bring it back. Anyone who has logged into Elite since January 1 can earn double XP over two hours in Call of Duty: Ghosts.
MachineGames hits same threshold on all current gen platforms and PC.
Yes, it's another article about Xbox One game resolution, but wait! Come back! This one's all sunshine and roses. Beautiful, high definition sunshine and roses.
The content is still being locked down.
It's no use digging in circles, my fellow Minecrafters. 4J Studios hasn't sneakily added emeralds to the terrain generation algorithm overnight. The developer has announced that it has yet to finalise the content for Minecraft Xbox 360 update 14, let alone worked its way through all the bugs.
Read the next issue of OXM, out 18th March.
Even as I type these fateful words, Trials: Fusion previews are erupting all over the internet - erupting like sperm whales chucked into a giant microwave. An odd choice of opening metaphor? Ah, but this is a Trials game. They don't come much odder.
"Is that coy enough?".
Will Bethesda Softworks announce one of its many secret projects this year? The answer appears to be "probably", though nothing is set in stone for the moment.
In the grim darkness of the far future, there can be only suicidal bike stunts.
Some people look to the future and see prosperity, the advance of science and buildings comprised entirely of chrome. Others look to the future and see global energy shortages, famine and war. And Redlynx? Redlynx looks to the future and sees bikes. All the bikes. Enough bikes to stretch to the moon and back. Come to think of it, a lunar landing episode would make a great addition to the tracklist in the forthcoming Trials Fusion.
"Nothing has changed from what we've said in recent interviews.".
The Bloody Question of Titanfall's native display resolution continues to preoccupy large sections of the internet. Respawn has now flatly denied a rumour that the final game will run at a lower resolution than the beta, which displays at 792p. The developer has yet to comment, however, on a rumour that the final resolution is in fact a scintillating 1080p.
Not ready for Titanfall? How about some footie, then.
If you like the idea of a #163;399.99 Xbox One, but don't want a free copy of Titanfall, then (a) seek professional help, and (b) consider acquiring this #163;399.99 Xbox One with FIFA 14 from Amazon UK, instead.
Finish the fight in a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302.
Turn 10 and 343 have expressed their profound respect and admiration for each other by way of a Halo paintjob for one of Forza Motorsport 5's vintage roadsters.
How the Twitch broadcast feature will take advantage of the console's features.
Xbox Live bigwig Chad Gibson has shed a little more light on the addition of a broadcast feature to Twitch on Xbox One, slated to arrive on 11th March. Microsoft may also make it possible to take Twitch profile pictures with Kinect and access chatrooms via SmartGlass, though these features won't be available at the same time as the livestream functionality.
How it'll tune up your multiplayer.
Microsoft has released a trailer for March's Xbox One update, which will make much-demanded improvements to multiplayer apps and features ahead of Titanfall's release.
Cream of the current gen Call of Duties go cheapies.
This week's Deals of the Week are Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3 for up to 60% off. The former is a shonky, vaguely charismatic mixture of the near-future and the recent past, which concludes with the main baddie playing support guitar for Avenged Sevenfold. The latter is a lot more consistent, but rather less eye-catching, and is noteworthy for introducing two new varieties of streak in addition to the hallowed killstreak.
"Piranha Bytes Return To Their Roots With Classic RPG.".
Deep Silver has announced Risen 3: Titan Lords for Xbox 360 - a "new" yet "classic" RPG in which players tour "a handcrafted role-playing world full of rugged charm where every decision changes the course of the story". It's out in August 2014, and you can check out the first screenshots below.
"I would be surprised if we hadn't made a decision by the end of the year," says Dean Hall.
Bohemia Interactive founder Dean Hall has once again mulled over the idea of a Day Z Xbox One port, suggesting that the developer will make a decision on this front in the next 12 months. He's also been chatting to Microsoft recently about a variety of "really interesting and exciting things". What sort of things? You'll have to ask Microsoft.
"Nothing's announced yet but we're very keen to see how people respond to the game.".
The Thief universe could absolutely support another Thief game, Eidos Montreal's Nick Cantin has told OXM. There's nothing to declare right now, of course, but the developer already has a few ideas about where it might take the franchise next.
