The gangs of Los Santos and Blaine County wage war for packages.
Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer is to receive yet another injection of new features at some point today, Rockstar has announced. The latest update will add Capture modes to the mix, billed as a "GTA twist on classic capture the flag style confrontations". Apparently, "strategy plays a huge role as you run decoys, set traps and place obstacles to ensure your enemies don't get close to your goods."
Also tweaks Bad Sport system, nobbles North Yankton exploit.
Alas, it seems the Grand Theft Auto 5 glitch that allows players to return to the town of North Yankton has been nobbled by the game's latest title update. On the plus side, however, the update adds a Crew Head to Head mode to GTA Online, and increases the cash you'll receive for completing certain missions. Scroll down for patch notes.
Buy all three for less than #163;10.
Day two of the Xbox Live Countdown to 2014 has dawned, and my debit card lies maimed and protesting somewhere beneath the desk. Today's offering is small but quality-stuffed: Spelunky and Fez are now 75 per cent off, and Terraria is 67 per cent off. You could own all three for #163;7.66, and all three are probably worth twice that sum individually.
Continue the story of Clementine.
The second season of Telltale's classic Walking Dead adventure series for Xbox Live Arcade is finally upon us. You can download episode 1, All That Remains, here for $4.99 or #163;3.39. We're in the middle of the global rollout, so availability may vary by region - if in doubt, try again later.
The fun only begins when the sun goes down.
What's the clubbing scene like in the fictional city of Harran, you ask? Answer: lively, but in a dead sort of way. Techland has released a new video of first-person zombie 'em up Dying Light, an open world game that has a day-night cycle. By day, the zombies are merely extremely dangerous. By night, they're another kettle of bitey, suppurating fish entirely.
"Halo is bigger than any one game," says Mike Ellis.
Halo is no longer just a game franchise backed by a mighty array of tie-ins and spin-offs - it's "an entire universe of experiences", according to Halo: Spartan Assault lead designer Mike Ellis.
#163;1.15 or $1.69 each, plus the free first episode.
Completing today's trinity of Xbox Live Marketplace price drops, here's the latest Deal of the Week, which is a bit of a doozie - you can pick up Episodes 2-5 of The Walking Dead XBLA's first season for #163;1.15 or $1.69 apiece (the first episode is free). The greatest point and click adventure series on Xbox 360, for less than a fiver? That'll do, pig. That'll do.
Pick up an Xbox Live Arcade game for as little as 67p.
Hot on the heels of today's 24-hour Borderlands 2 reductions, here are a number of Games on Demand and Xbox Live Arcade discounts that will apply till 23rd December. Not all of them are especially appetising - #163;33.49 for NHL 2014, anyone? - but there are some decent deals to be had: some of the XBLA titles now cost the same as a packet of crisps. Cautionary note: analogy's validity may vary by region - I'm not up to speed with worldwide crisp pricing trends.
Ubisoft America prez talks up GTA 5, hopes "we get to that level".
Few were pleased by the absence of Ubisoft's Watch Dogs from the Xbox One (and PS4) launch line-up - announced at E3 2012, this modern-day marriage of Assassin's Creed and GTA has all the makings of a killer app. The publisher's North American president Laurent Detoc is also bleeding - he reckons Watch Dogs could have been the highest-scoring next generation launch title, but feels it'll be all the better for releasing in 2014 instead.
"Players will not need to eat and drink to stay alive.".
Tom Clancy's The Division is about as anti-Clancy as you can get while still vaguely ticking all the "high tech military thriller" boxes. True, there are Fisher-esque gadgets such as a rolling robot bomb, a wrist-mounted holo projector and a remote-controlled (and tablet-controlled) quadrotor, but at the end of the day, you're still a starving vagrant in a quarantine zone. Fortunately, it appears that the survival simulation has limits. You won't need food and water to survive, for instance.
Kenway's quartermaster Adewale takes a turn at the wheel.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's first story DLC pack, Freedom's Cry, will launch on the Xbox Live Marketplace today. It adds nine new single player missions, stars Edward Kenway's steadfast chum Adewale, and takes place around 15 years after the events of the main game. Lookee here, a trailer.

Harrods decides console doesn't cost enough, takes drastic measures.
Stop what you're doing, have a seat, pour yourself a nerve-stiffening drink and consider that somewhere in the world, there exists a person who is prepared to spend #163;6000 (or $9779) on an Xbox One that's covered in 24 carat gold. An Xbox One that presumably can only be transported with the aid of a forklift truck, and which overheats the moment you plug it in. Thanks for boggling our minds, Harrods, but I think I'll stick with the homely plastic version for the moment.
Melee! Wraith Powers! Nemesis System! Murder!.
Warner Bros has released the first screenshots of Monolith's vaguely PoP-Two-Thrones-ish Lord of the Rings game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. New to the game? It takes place between the events of LOTR and the Hobbit, and tells the story of big bad Sauron's return.
"Are you having issues signing into a child account?".
Heads-up: Xbox Live is on the blink today. The official status page notes that "Xbox Live Core Services" may be "limited" - in particular, you might have trouble signing into a child account. The Xbox 360 is the only console affected.
"I think it will be early in the New Year, in the first three months," says Charla.
Desperate to get your hands on the first crop of ID@Xbox titles? The program's director Chris Charla hopes they'll arrive by or before March 2014, though that's naturally up to the developers in question at the end of the day.
New Rare platformer would be "great", too.
Microsoft's Phil "Genuinely Likeable Executive" Spencer has been chatting to his Twitter followers about the challenges of porting high quality existing IP to new consoles. Alas, it's not always financially practical unless the game in question is a guaranteed big-hitter. Like, for instance, the original Fable, which is currently being treated to an "Anniversary" remaster for Xbox 360.
"They require a group of players to tackle at once.".
You can play Bungie's MMO-shooter Destiny on your lonesome throughout, but it may be wiser to team up when it comes to certain "end-game" missions, the developer's Jason Jones has revealed. In fact, scratch the "may be".
Try it out before anyone gets to drive the real-life version.
Download the latest Need for Speed: Rivals patch, due on Xbox Live today, and you'll get a free in-game version of the just-revealed 2015 Ford Mustang, which isn't yet available to buy in reality. Ah, the perks of cross-promotion.
