Partnership between Xbox and Activision continues.
"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, developed by Sledgehammer Games (co-developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3), harnesses the first three-year, all next-gen development cycle in franchise history, and again brings all add-on content first to Xbox," explains Xbox Wire.
The partnership between Xbox and the Call of Duty franchise began back at E3 2009 when Microsoft announced that Modern Warfare 2 Map Packs would be released first on Xbox 360. Since then every Call of Duty game has seen its DLC released first on Xbox platforms, including last year's Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Set up a squad for up to five people before joining a multiplayer server.
Squad Join Beta allows players to set up a squad for up to five people before joining a multiplayer server. This allows you and four friends to deploy directly in the game together. Once in-game, you and your squad mates are guaranteed to stick together over rounds.
The tool is currently in its first iteration, so you can expect further functionality to be made based on player feedback. The next version of Join Squad is planned for when Battlefield 4 Dragon's Teeth arrives this summer.
The former Tony Hawk's Pro Skater developer helped IW with Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Neversoft was acquired by Activision in 1999 and shot to fame that year with the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. The studio went on to work on the Guitar Hero franchise and most recently Call of Duty: Ghosts with Infinity Ward.
"As you know, Neversoft and Infinity Ward teamed up for the development of Call of Duty: Ghosts," wrote Hirshberg. "And through that process, it became clear that the two studios have very complementary skill sets. Between these two excellent studios, it seemed like a single 'super-studio' could emerge."
Originally released on PS2, the new game "focuses on the core Amplitude experience," explains the campaign page.
"Single player and local multiplayer are included in the design, as are leaderboards for online bragging rights. The Beat Blaster (the ship), music notes, tracks and FX will all be modernized and gorgeous. The cyberworld around the tracks will be designed by artists and crafted by coders so that every pixel on screen can be driven by the underlying music. Even as we work through our plans for this Kickstarter, the game is beginning to take shape – an HD reinvisioning...
Titanfall drops to No.2, followed by FIFA 14 and World Cup Brazil.
The video game sequel managed to beat the No.2 debut of the first game, but actually sold five per cent fewer units. The missing Xbox One retail version may have impacted sales.
Titanfall dropped 17 per cent to No.2, followed by FIFA 14 and 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
Call of Duty: Ghosts takes fifth, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition holds at No.6, and Child of Light is new at No.9 – impressive for a limited retail release.
Dark Souls 2 benefited from the retail PC release, jumping four places to No.14.
Tweet from Dark Souls content creator suggests sequel could be on the way.

The faces of Sony president Kaz Hirai and Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida appearing in the background suggests the game could be a PlayStation exclusive, though no platforms were reported.
A NeoGAF user also posted some supposed leaked screenshots of Project Beast (via 4Chan), showing the main character wielding a shotgun and taking on zombie dogs and soldiers.
Includes development, marketing, packaging, infrastructure support, royalties and other costs.
The figure, since confirmed to Reuters by an Activision Spokesperson, is said to include not only the cost of development but also marketing, packaging, infrastructure support, royalties and other costs.
Activision Blizzard and Bungie agreed a 10-year deal back in 2010, giving the publisher worldwide distribution rights and a say in the game's development as a franchise.
"If you're making a $500 million bet you can't take that chance with someone else's IP," Activision CEO told the Milken conference. "The stakes for us are getting bigger."
Unknown developer working on last-gen ports. Is it High Moon?
Instead, the developer is focussing purely on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC versions.
"PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners don't have to worry about Activision forgetting them, as Advanced Warfare will be brought to the last generation of consoles as well," Game Informer writes in its latest issue.
"Sledgehammer will not be handling the development, however. Activision has yet to announce the studio behind these versions of the game."
Confirmation of Sledgehammer's non-involvement adds weight to the rumour that Transformers developer High Moon Studios...
Mario Kart 8 is wonderful. Due to the laws and regulations of the all-empowering embargo I can't say anymore than that, and please take everything from this point on in a 'preview' context.
With all that said, the plumber's return in a vehicle is everything you're probably hoping it would be. Much line with the DS iterations than the Wii release a few years ago, it's casual enough for the passer-by to get a kick out of, but intricate enough that people like myself - and that mother Brett Phipps - can spend hours trying to shave inches off lap times for nothing else than...
Sledgehammer’s trailer for this year's Call of Duty has whet our appetites, and in a world filled with Titans falling and Battlefields, the world's biggest franchise is preparing to step up.
For starters, the game finally looks to be have ridden or at least massively improved the graphics engine that’s held the series back for so long. Last year's entry looked the same as 2009’s Modern Warfare 2, inexcusable for the first next-gen COD, even though cross-gen development can’t have helped.
Advanced Warfare impresses from the opening frames: exo-mercs patrolling a camp before a series of fighter drones fly across a beach, all captured on an Xbox One.
Then we meet Kevin Spacey. Playing Jonathan Irons - or 'Robo-Spacey' as I will affectionately refer to...
Bizarrely the web-slinging sequel on Xbox One dropped off the release schedule with no explanation, only to appear on the Xbox One digital store on the day of release. All other versions arrived in stores as planned.
Activision still hasn't said what caused the delayed retail release for the game.
Amazon lists release platforms and plot details, including the name of Kevin Spacey's character.
There's no mention of a version for Wii U.
"Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released on November 4, but you can pre-order it now on: Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PC," states Amazon.
In addition to posting box arts for the release platforms, the game's listing also features some other information relating to the gameplay and plot of Advanced Warfare.
"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, developed by Sledgehammer Games (co-developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3), harnesses the first three-year, all next-gen development...
