Spider-Man Is Getting an Endless Runner (iPad)

Added: 06.06.2014 14:51 | 55 views | 0 comments

If you ask Gamezebo's own Nick Tylwalk (who leads a double-life as the editor of the comic book site ), he'll tell you that Gameloft has a spotty track record with superhero games. It's a conversation I've had with him time and again. But with Spider-Man Unlimited, I doubt that conversation will be necessary.

An endless runner announced earlier today, Spider-Man Unlimited will put players at odds with The Sinister Six as they traverse New York, unlocking 23 different playable Spider-Men as they go. And yes, the trailer looks great.

Cold War Kickstarter: Playdek Crowdfunds Twilight Struggle (iPad)

Added: 06.06.2014 12:42 | 55 views | 0 comments

Like most history buffs growing up in the tail end of the 20th century, I've been strangely fascinated by the Cold War my whole life. And as a board game fan, 2005's Twilight Struggle instantly struck a chord with me.. at least on paper.

A massive, sprawling, five hour simulation of Cold War politics, it looked to be everything I could ever want in a tabletop game. The problem, though, was finding a Khrushchev to my Kennedy.

I tried convincing my wife that five hours of geopolitics and dice rolling would be a fantastic way for us to spend quality time together. It did not go over well.

Monster Hunter Proper Comes to Mobile (iPad)

Added: 05.06.2014 16:44 | 69 views | 0 comments

Capcom is no stranger to bringing its portable games to mobile. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective and Phoenix Wright both made the jump with varying degrees of success. There was even a Monster Hunter game, after a fashion, in the form of Monster Hunter: Dynamic Fighting.

Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite, however, will be the first full game in the franchise to hit iOS according to a press release on Capcom's E3 line-up.

Battleheart Legacy Review (iPhone, iPad)

Added: 05.06.2014 16:01 | 91 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 90

To say there aren't many good RPGs on mobile devices would be a bit of an exaggeration. What would be slightly more accurate is to say there aren't a ton of excellent RPGs made specifically for a phone or tablet. Mika Mobile helps make that less true with Battleheart Legacy, an attractive, challenging and deep fantasy role-playing experience that fits touchscreen devices like a glove -- or possibly a gauntlet, depending on how you customize your hero.

There was, indeed, a previous Battleheart game from the same developer, but Battleheart Legacy is more spiritual successor than sequel. It begins the way many RPGs do, with a lone character in a small town destined for bigger and better things. The initial tasks that allow you to get your feet wet eventually give way to a quest to find the three shards of a Solar Crystal in order to claim a hefty reward from your king.

Hitman: Sniper - Agent 47 Sets Sights On Mobile (iPad)

Added: 05.06.2014 11:11 | 51 views | 0 comments

Square Enix surprised a lot of people when it first announced that it was taking the Hitman franchise to mobile. Much gnashing of teeth followed. Then the gaming community actually saw Hitman GO, and while it wasn't from Square Enix Montreal comes as much less of a shock. While one team of developers works on additional content for Hitman GO, another has been busy creating Agent 47?s next mobile adventure. It's calledHitman: Sniper, and the studio is calling it "a massively competitive sniping game that will focus on the subtlety of execution." Designed to encourage some thoughtfulness before puling the trigger, the gameplay is said to be similar to the Hitman: Sniper Challenge that IO Interactive came up with back in 2012, but with an interface designed specifically for touchscreens.

Temple Run Hits 1 Billion Downloads (iPad)

Added: 04.06.2014 13:00 | 46 views | 0 comments

You haven't thought about Temple Run in a little bit. That's ok, we haven't either. This megahit had its time in the sun, and barring a "Temple Run 3," there's not much reason to think we'll see it at the top of the App Store again any time soon.

But that doesn't mean it hasn't been accruing downloads all this time.

Imangi Studios has just announced that the game has been downloaded 1 billion times. To put that into perspective, there are 7.2 billion people on Earth. A billion downloads means one for every 7 people.

That's a lot of running.

So when Uber Entertainment's John Comes contacted me to see if Gamezebo would like to share some of for Toy Rush once you've processed every bit of brilliance the folks at Uber have shared below.

Romans In My Carpet! Review (iPhone, iPad, Android)

Added: 03.06.2014 11:00 | 62 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 80

"As far as you know" is one of my favorite phrases. For instance, as far as you know, there aren't literal armies of mites doing battle in the fibers of your carpets. Except according to Romans In My Carpet!, you'd be oh so wrong. Witching Hour Studios wants you to dive in and take control of these unusually strategic warring bugs, and as soon as you lift that veil of ignorance, you might just enjoy it.

Witching Hour knows a thing or two about turn-based war games since they're the same team that did the well-received . Compared to those games, Romans is simpler, smaller (obviously) in scale and not as intimidating to people who might not be hardcore strategy buffs. Yet it somehow manages not to skimp on either the meat and potatoes of the gameplay or its delightfully well-realized underfoot world.

Game Bundles Are Coming to the App Store (iPad)

Added: 02.06.2014 14:51 | 56 views | 0 comments

For smaller developers, bundles have provided some of the best visibility money can buy in recent years. Humble Bundle, Indie Royale - offers like these have brought some fantastic yet obscure titles to desktop gamers, raising the profiles of their developers in the process.

Thanks to the nature of Android OS, Google gamers have been benefiting from this in recent years too (again, often courtesy of Humble). Apple's rather closed nature, however, has made bundles a virtual impossibility. Today though, Apple announced a change that will give developers the tools they need to bundle their apps together as they see fit, and for whatever price they want.

Developers will also benefit from a few other new additions that were announced during today's WWDC keynote, like video previews in the App Store, trending searches and related searches. These, and the bundles, will all be available when iOS 8 launches.

Ready Steady Play looks like silly cowboy fun (iPad)

Added: 02.06.2014 12:00 | 94 views | 0 comments

Ready Steady Play is the game's follow-up from developer cowboy games -- it will be a trio of games, actually -- and while the trailer doesn't really confirm what kind of game we'll be getting, it's too fun not to share.

Congratulations Ready Steady Play - you're now officially on my radar.

TwoDots Review (iPhone, iPad)

Added: 02.06.2014 9:34 | 76 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 60

Last year's minimalist megahit, Dots, challenged players to one of the simplest game mechanics ever created: connect dots. This simplicity, along with its clean design and perfectly timed short-burst play, made it a permanent fixture on millions of smartphones. Its sequel, TwoDots, utilizes the same basic gameplay but offers more variety through level-based progression and in-game obstacles. Unfortunately, it's adopted a more aggressive system of monetization that becomes its own recurring obstacle.

TwoDots is most reminiscent of the "Moves" game type in Dots, whose goal was to collect as many dots as possible in a finite number of moves. You still collect dots by drawing lines between same-colored circles horizontally or vertically (never diagonally), removing and receiving all points that the line touches. In TwoDots, however, the goal is not simply to attain the highest score possible: you have objectives that must be completed in order to pass each of its 85 individual levels.

Learn to play Stairway to Heaven and a catalogue of other classic songs with CoachGuitar for iOS [Sponsored] (iPad)

Added: 31.05.2014 7:00 | 52 views | 0 comments

Have you ever picked up a guitar and wished you were able to thrash out iconic songs from some of the world's most infamous bands? Do you wish you could play that catchy riff that you can't get out of your head?

If you answered yes to either of the above questions, you'll be very interested in CoachGuitar - an iPhone and iPad app that will teach you how to play the likes of Back in Black, Yesterday, and Hotel California.

Unlike a lot of coaching apps, CoachGuitar doesn't just focus on guitar tabs. Instead, the app utilises videos and an animated fretboard, as well as coloured dots that represent your fingers and their placement during songs.

These dots also indicate which strings you're supposed to strum at which times.

We recently had the opportunity to chat to Antoine Mercier from the CoachGuitar team and ask him a few questions.

Dungelot 2 Review (iPhone, iPad)

Added: 30.05.2014 15:30 | 64 views | 0 comments

Gamezebo Rating: 70

I've never played the original Dungelot, but I understand it was quite good; a fact emphasized by . That means I can't directly compare it with the recently-released free-to-play sequel Dungelot 2, but it also insulates me from any comparative bias I might have. After all, I can't say I liked the first one better if I haven't played it, right?

Dungelot 2 is a very simple twist on the Rogue-like format. Most of the familiar elements are here - randomly appearing monsters and treasure, one-click combat and perma-death - but instead of having to navigate a labyrinth of rooms and twisted corridors, the dungeon is represented by a simple grid. From the entry point of each level, you can "uncover" any adjacent room - that is, any square on the grid - by tapping on it, revealing creatures, loot, traps and other such dungeon decor.

Added: 30.05.2014 11:29 | 43 views | 0 comments

If there's one thing you can count on in this crazy, ever-changing world, it's that any IP that blows up in almost any form of pop culture is going to get turned into a mobile game.

In the case of The Hunger Games, there have already been a few attempts to turn the mega-popular franchise into mobile gaming gold. But neither to have the mobile games powerhouse cook up "an exclusive role-playing, card collection mobile game" that will be produced by the same Chinese team responsible for The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth.
